Concealed Doorways that are Super Cool

May 26, 2019 by Marina Klima 2 Comments

Concealed doorways don’t have to be in the form of bookcases. You can create unique designs and sizes. In fact, they can be in the bathroom, living room or the library. They could look like mirrors or be large enough to fit a car. Most people install them for security to conceal panic rooms. In this case, they are strong enough to withstand any physical assault. Certainly,  in case of burglary, nobody bothers to check out the big conspicuous mirror in the room. Some people prefer bulletproof enclosures that are designed to match the layout of the house. The best thing about these rooms is that nobody will know about them apart from your family.

Everything you need to know about a hidden doorway system

Concealed doorways are exciting, but most people have no idea what to expect and what they entail. After extensive research, we came up with the following tips to enlighten you:

Your secrets and valuables are safe

One of the benefits of buying a house is having the freedom to include home designs of your choice. Concealed doorways and secret compartments remain hidden from the eyes of strangers and guests.

Make concealed doorways look ordinary

Concealed doorways should blend perfectly with the home interior design to keep them hidden. Small details like mismatched wallpapers can reveal your secret.

Different choices

There are numerous choices to make when deciding on the type of door to install. For example, some have hidden handles or panels. Most are easy to build, but others require assistance from the door frame maker.

Multiple connections

If your house has extra space, you can create hidden rooms and connect them via secret passages.

Concealed doorways ideas

If you decide to design your dream house, you should consider installing a hidden door system. The ideas below will give you somewhere to start:

The Bookcase hidden door system

Bookshelves are the oldest objects used to conceal secret compartments where you can store books, valuables like jewelry or an office. However, if a bookcase looks vast and conspicuous to you, there are other choices, for example, door mirrors.

In the wall

A hidden door system could be located in the wall. A sliding door is barely noticeable, and you could use it as a wardrobe. This is ideal for individuals with little space and minimalists.

Sometimes, you might want to store valuable items that do not require large spaces. A large TV mounted on the wall provides you with the secret compartment you need. A secret door that flips could be installed behind the screen on the wall.

The staircase doorway

When you have excess items and little space, you can always use the staircase to create an extra room. Many houses have valuable spaces under their stairs, but the problem arises when it comes to installation. A door frame maker will help you to choose a door made from the right materials to guarantee durability, and he can also assist in the installation.

Secret cellar as a concealed doorway

There are several ideas you can use to create concealed doorways in the basement, for instance, sliding floor doors which can be designed to blend with the tiles or wood on the floor. You can cover them with rugs that are easily removable.

Concealed dorways can be outside

Contrary to what people think, concealed doorways can be outside the house. For example, waterfalls and vines that cover a wall can hide a door. By the way,  a large yard, creating water architecture to flow over a hidden door system is one of the most exquisite home design trends.

Security Room

Most people include home interior designs such as concealed doorways as decorations; others prefer to create security and panic rooms to hide valuables such as vital documents. Panic rooms guarantee safety for your family because they have security features as well as the ability to lock from the inside. Concealed doorways are created so that they match the interior which makes it impossible for the intruders to locate the panic room.
