I can’t live without comfy chairs. Apparently, it is something that is surprisingly hard to find (even for a designer). This April I tried at least fifty chairs at High Point Furniture Market and found just a few great chairs. I hope that I saved you a huge amount of legwork by sorting through so-to-say “comfy chairs” and, actually finding the ones that are tried and true.
Here they are:
1. High Back Bergere New York Chair by Saba, design, Sergio Bicego
I spotted this chair right away and then never wanted to get up. True to form, it is slim, comfy and versatile you can use it for any room in the house. Put it is a traditional setting and you got an interesting look that will prompt a few accessories before it becomes a magazine-worthy space. because it is so versatile it will compliment any sofa or other chairs. Clearly, it will look great in a modern style room, but also chic and unexpected in a traditional setting.
Lightweight and slim this chair is a modern interpretation of historic French Bergere. It is incredibly functional for reading or relaxing because of the height of the back, the comfortable headrest, and the elegant pouf. It is contemporary in its core, of course, but also an eclectic chair that combines comfort with an edgy attitude.

2. Copenhagen Style Swivel Vintage Chair in Leather by CDI International
Even as I was not a big fan of swivel chairs, I fell in love with this one. It hugs you like a good friend, and it doesn’t feel too small or too large. In addition, this is one of the classic comfy chairs that has another historical reference. Apparently, it has its roots with Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair by Fritz Hansen. It is made by CDI International, a high-end Canadian company that takes pride in hand detailing and superior quality. Owning the factory gives them the ability to stay on the cutting edge of design and trends. To add to their benefit, each piece is handcrafted.

4. Gracious Swivel Chair by Wesley Hall
Ideal for a cocktail party this chair is one of the best comfy chairs I’ve seen so far. What a way to have a martini! It is a recent introduction by Wesley Hall, a luxury upholstery manufacturer with a great reputation for quality furniture. They, actually, pay their worker’s hourly rate to make sure that no one is cutting corners.
Initially, from looking at this chair, I did not expect it to be comfortable. I am tall, and my partner is much shorter. Surprisingly, it felt right for both of us. Considering that the small footprint of the chair is something that most people want, this chair is a winner! It won’t clutter the room even if you use two or more of the same chairs next to each other. In addition, it is very comfortable for long nights with friends. Use it for any room, not only a living room or the den. Not to mention that if you pick a good quality fabric and wood finish it will last you a long time.

5. Tempo Chair by Younger Company
Even as I was trying to finalize my search for comfy chairs, this chair invited me to snuggle in and stay awhile. The high back and wrap-around arms felt great while plush back and seat cushions created a personal cocoon. And since the swivel glider puts you in a relaxing mood, you never want to get up. Apparently, Younger Furniture specializes in high- quality upholstered furniture at very competitive prices. Their designs are up to date with easy to care fabrics as well as performance fabrics. In addition, the built-in quality is every bit the equal to – and sometimes better than – what you’ll find in much higher priced pieces.
