Should kitchen faucet match cabinet hardware in terms of the type of metal? For example, if my faucet is polished nickel should I select kitchen pulls in polished nickel as well?
Well, I am risking to be not in vogue, but I would still say, “Yes! Most of the time the kitchen faucet should match cabinet hardware!”
But, sometimes strategically placing different metals next to each other can work for you, add interest or even make a statement.
When Mismatching Kitchen Faucet and Cabinet Hardware Works:
- In a bohemian inspired kitchen, you can have many different elements united with one common theme. It can be inspired by organic living or different ethnic cultures. Bottom line: bohemian style welcomes different colors and metals. See Below.
- If your kitchen is stark white or monochromatic and you crave a pop of color, go for it but with caution. For example, Gemma Bonham-Carter of The Sweetest Digs warmed up the gray kitchen with some pale gold faucet. She wanted a hard working stainless steel sink. She used Delta Trinsic faucet in champagne gold, the one she fell in love with. Because the faucet is not so bright the combination of stainless steel and champagne gold works perfectly together. See below.
- If your kitchen cabinet pulls and knobs are black or very dark bronze (almost black) you have nothing to worry about. For example, Kate Riley of Centsational Style describes her kitchen project with black cabinet pulls that work great. See below:
What if you are still hesitant?
I have a different solution: Two-toned metals for your cabinet hardware or an alternative to metal hardware, such as crystals.
Who says that kitchen cabinets hardware has to be only finished in one color? I found some great cabinet pulls and knobs that don’t have to match the faucet. For example, if your faucet is chrome, you can pick a two-tone chrome and gold color cabinet pulls. If you prefer crystal to dress up the kitchen, go for it and don’t worry about matching at all. Below are some more options that you can buy by clicking on them. Is there any one of them that you fell in love with? Tell me what is your favorite pull or knob.
