- How to make blue-grey tones warm and inviting in the living room.
- How to add accessories and details to highlight the wall art.
- Why use bolder objects for display.
Just like most of us, my client wanted a comfortable living room to relax. Her preferred paint colors were blue-grey with tan and blue-green colors for upholstery. And she disliked orange. Period.
Art as Inspiration
Soulful and inspiring artwork by Dietrich Katz from DRK Gallery received a big smile. “Ahhh, Beach”, she said, “I love the beach.” It was a good starting point for inspiration.
Colors
The soothing shades of blue, gray and tan feel right for the room. Added wine cooler built inside a wall unit makes it easy to entertain.
Clear glass elements, such as the table lamp as well as the glass beads of the drapery revive the precious memories of foggy mornings on the beach.
Now it is time to have a drink! No worries about spilling wine, the bar part of the wall unit countertop is sturdy granite.
Final Touches and Accessories
The throwback pillows of the sofa get a big hug from the guests that never want to leave
And then I brought in burnt orange color pillows, accessories and flowers. The burnt orange color of the throw pillows, flowers and accessories woke up the blues. Suddenly the room was filled with light and warmth. Then I edited the display in the wall unit by substituting the smaller objects with a bolder, stronger display collection united by the Moroccan inspiration. Final result – a balanced living room that is not boring but rather cozy and inviting.
